  • The Street Comp: A Global Online Competition for Scooter Riders

Why Online Competitions Are Becoming Part of Scootering For years, scooter competitions have meant travelling to a skatepark, signing up on the day and hoping your run lands when it matters most. That format isn’t going anywhere, but it’s no longer the only way riders can test themselves. With social media, riders have already become used to filming clips, learning tricks from people across the world and building their own communities online. It was only a matter of time before competitions started evolving too. Instead of being limited by location, more events are now opening the door to anyone with a scooter, a camera and the motivation to ride. Competing Without Leaving Your Local Park One of the most interesting examples is The Street Comp, a global online competition where scooter riders submit clips instead of travelling to a single venue. Throughout the tournament, athletes face off in head-to-head matchups, with legendary judges including: Kai Saunders & Cody Flom who decide who advances to the next round. That creates opportunities for riders who might never have had the chance to compete internationally before. Whether your local park is a small concrete plaza or a world-class facility, everyone starts with the same opportunity: film your best riding. Unlike a traditional contest where everything comes down to one run, riders have the chance to think carefully about trick selection, consistency and creativity. Landing a clean line, choosing the right spot and presenting your riding well all become part of the equation. Pushing Progression Competitions have always pushed progression, but they also create something just as valuable: motivation. Having a deadline often gives riders the extra push to finally learn that trick they’ve been putting off or spend another hour trying to clean up a line. Watching entries from riders in different countries is equally inspiring. Different parks, different styles and different approaches all become part of the experience, helping the community discover new talent that might otherwise go unnoticed. That’s one of the reasons online competitions continue to attract both experienced riders and newcomers alike. Supporting the Community At OHLAY, we’ve always believed that the scooter community grows when riders have more opportunities to express themselves, push their limits and inspire one another. Supporting initiatives that bring riders together is part of that vision. That’s why we’re proud to support The Street Comp alongside CityLegends. Giving riders around the world another way to compete, gain recognition and stay motivated is exactly the kind of initiative we believe helps freestyle scootering continue to grow. If you’d like to see how the competition works, discover riders from around the world or even join future tournaments yourself, check out CityLegends and see what the next generation of online scooter competitions looks like.
